Also this obvious bias, I really did enjoy this book! It'south well-written (he mentions he paw wrote it, on yellow legal pads!), entertaining, and it leaves y'all wanting more, in the best way. I learned a lot. I had no idea he was a child actor (on the radio - he's old) or that he considered himself a "song and trip the light fantastic man." He'due south really self-deprecating and, mayhap realistically, attributes a lot of his success to luck. He points out that many aspiring actors never make it, but somehow, he did. He's very proud of the longevity of his career, and you can tell not everyone in Hollywood equates longevity with success and that is a bit of a sore point with him. Merely, awesomely, he'south most proud of his marriage. They've been married for over lx years, both actors too! (The dean Feeny marries in BMW is his married woman in real life!)

Smashing insights most interim in radio, theater, film, and TV. Although a scrap of a curmudgeon, he's goose egg simply classy talking virtually his colleagues. A bang-up read, and excuse me while I go watch 1776 and all 7 seasons of Boy Meets World over again.

William Daniels' autobiography, "At that place I Go Over again: How I Came to be Mr. Feeny, John Adams, Dr. Craig, KITT, and Many Others," tells the story of a man fans will recognize from many of the characters he has played: smart, irascible, talented, and frank. In fact, Daniels notes that he'due south a lot like Dr. Mark Craig, the character he played on the TV show "St. Elsewhere:" "I tin can be rather sharp, very critical, and sometimes judgmental -- a real martinet." In fact, Daniels notes that he'south a lot like Dr. Mark Craig, the character he played on the TV show "St. Elsewhere:" "I can exist rather abrupt, very disquisitional, and sometimes judgmental -- a real martinet." Fortunately, he is clearly not similar John Adams, his character from "1776," who was "obnoxious and disliked."

Daniels also reveals a deeper, more than nuanced person than any of his roles, a homo whose early life as a child performer in New York left him with crippling self-doubt, despite his lifelong success in the competitive acting profession. He shows considerable generosity in relating the story of his childhood, making clear that his relentless mother had pushed him and his siblings into performing, but questioning (years later, with the help of analysis) why he never rejected the blueprint she created for him.

Those who enjoy amusement biographies will appreciate Daniels' backstage stories from Broadway and his behind-the-scenes looks at Television set and motion picture in Hollywood. Although he has worked with some of the biggest "names" of the by century, he is not much of a gossip near his fellow actors, telling generally positive stories, autonomously from a few drunken escapades and frustrating performances. He is actually much tougher on producers and directors, specially Jerome Robbins.

His descriptions of the acting profession, from countless takes and difficult performances to unemployment and stardom, reveal a human being who is completely defended to his craft. He seems to have had a career-long, single-minded devotion to offer the all-time performances possible, even when that means turning down roles he judges every bit sub-par or tangling with producers and directors. Daniels circles back to his babyhood to suggest the roots of his perfectionism, but he seldoms strays besides far from the narrative for deep introspection.

Daniels is notably humble in describing ii of his biggest successes: His term as president of the Screen Actors' Order and his seven-decade marriage to actress Bonnie Bartlett. In the chapter discussing his work with SAG and the successful re-negotiation of favorable contract terms, for example, he spends considerable time congratulating other actors, who worked in the negotiations or contributed to the union's strike fund. (His cess of the SAG professional staff is scathing, though.)

Regarding Bartlett, he paints a glowing portrait of a talented, successful, steady, long-suffering spouse, who is the ideal weigh to his turbulence. The book made me want to know more than about her -- I'd be fascinated to read her autobiography!

"There I Get Again" is a thoughtful, entertaining memoir. Daniels' fans -- and film, TV, and theatre fans -- will savor it.

He might not have been the about pleasant man during his life, certainly no real life Mr. Feeny, but the book is one affair to a higher place all else - it's honest.

William, or Bill every bit he refers to himself, has spent more than time in bear witness business concern than most stars could but dream of. The long sub-title sums up what this book is about quite nicely. My interest in this volume

The long sub-championship sums up what this book is well-nigh quite nicely. The fashion Mr. Daniels describes it, he sort of "fell" into show business organisation, starting with the insistence of his mother, and just never could find his manner out of it, not that he tried very difficult. Eventually he came to realize that it was what he wanted to be doing. In this book, he tells the story of his nearly iconic roles, and everything in between--how he came to accept them, and even what it was like to play them.

My involvement in this book initially came from my honey for Boy Meets World. I was 11 when that show first aired, which pretty much made me the same age as the main characters. My husband and I have quoted sure lines from the prove to each other for so many years that our kids exercise information technology now too (and have both watched at least some of the prove themselves, and my daughter loves Girl Meets World). Anyway, all that to say, Mr. Feeny is virtually and dearest to my middle. Now I know that the man who plays Mr. Feeny (yeah, present tense, considering he'll always be Mr. Feeny to me) is a real person and has faced some real struggles in his life, which has only deepened my appreciation of William Daniels.

Truth be told, I don't know much nearly the remainder of the roles he has played. I've never seen Knight Rider, 1776, or St. Elsewhere. And I did wonder if I would be lost or uninterested while reading most of this book. I wasn't. Maybe a little, when he talked about other actors and actresses he worked with at different times, producers, directors, etc. But not enough to cause a lack of enjoyment in or understanding of the volume.

My only difficulty in reading the book was due to the writing itself; a couple of times the stories left me confused because it seemed like it was missing just some other line or two of explanation before moving on. The book wasn't published by a big-name company (which surprises me, simply kind of goes correct along with how Daniels describes himself as never being a "big star," while being recognizable equally the characters he's played), and I wonder if most of the people who edited or proofread information technology were shut to Daniels, knew his stories or life well enough to non be confused by a slight lack of caption. Or perhaps it's but me.

I am so glad that I read this volume. And the chapter virtually Boy Meets World was pretty much what I would have wanted it to be and made me tear up but a footling. I would suggest that if yous know William Daniels from any of his roles, or are simply interested in memoirs of celebrities, you cheque out this autobiography.

John Adams, Dr. Mark Craig, KITT, Mr. Feeny – all of these take one person in common – an extraordinary and talented thespian by the name of William Daniels.

Whether you are a theater buff, moving-picture show fan, or someone who watches television – you probably know his voice and perhaps his name. But, few people know the human being behind the voices and characters and how he landed the iconic roles some of the states know him for.

Originally written out in his own handwriting, on yellow legal pads, Daniels chronicles his life leading up to the key roles that have distinguished his career.

Oft self-deprecating; but filled with a humble honesty; Daniels chronicles his life from his childhood in show-business to his time in the Ground forces, his marriage to actress Bonnie Bartlett and their family, to his time in theater before his roles in film then television. He likewise tells of his two years as president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

If yous're looking for "dirt" on others he has acted with – you won't find it. This isn't a scathing, revealing "tell-all". If you're looking for a more than in-depth await at the roles of John Adams, Dr. Mark Craig, KITT, and Mr. Feeny – you won't observe that either. Though there are some stories he has included in this memoir, and the most touching is the "good day" scene from Boy Meets World.

Equally much equally I wanted to hear well-nigh John Adams (which my mom gives high accolades to) and fifty-fifty more near the office of KITT (that'southward what I know him as), it's vitally important to remember that Daniels is greater than the roles he has played. Daniels deserves his entire story (and life) told.

In this volume, y'all volition notice a man who has had a remarkable career in each medium – theater, picture, and television. A man, who didn't desire to be an histrion, but came to gradual credence of it and didn't just perform, but excelled.

A homo who often said "no", only to find that a reluctant acceptance to the role brought not only cracking success, but accolades and praise over thirty-twoscore+ years after the performance.

Daniels' story is one of remarkable fortitude as well as persistence. And, despite some thinking he isn't a success – his marriage, his family, his longevity – bear witness otherwise. His story proves that one doesn't accept to have a blockbuster movie or mega-star condition to be "successful", simply small roles tin make a deviation in the success of a story as well as life. He likewise teaches us that sometimes, even if accidentally, we finish up where we're supposed to be in life.

Dr. Mark Craig

As a young mother in the 1980's, with vi children born between 1975-1990; I watched very little TV. But I never missed St. Elsewhere. At the time I identified with the generation of young doctors, simply admired the older characters. During this pandemic, my husband and I are watching again from the kickoff flavour to the last. Now a retired advisor and a grandmother, my life experience is rich. I have been deeply moved by several of Pecker Daniels' scenes- in tears or speechless. When Ellen couldn't get out of the car for Steven'south burying. When he stayed in the trailer with Barbara's other grandfather, and learned how securely this human loved and sacrificed for his family. The drive for excellence. Expecting the same from the young people he mentored. Bedside scenes with patients. So many more than... I know this review is for the book, non a telly serial. Only reading this book written belatedly in Bill Daniels' life...his personal history, how his career fit into who he was, the long wedlock to Bonnie Bartlett, successes as well as self doubt and betrayals..... was fascinating, sad, touching, and both tough and tender. An inspiring story of being genuinely who yous are, having such resilience, accepting others with all their gifts as well as demons. Finally— having the humility and depth of feeling to proceed to process his journey in therapy every bit he approached the age of 90! Comparing Mr. Daniels' book to his role as Dr. Craig in St. Elsewhere... or the teacher in Boy Meets World —- gave me an understanding of where his acting genius came from. He plays his characters as intended past the screenwriters, but he brings those roles to life by bringing who he IS into his piece of work. It is powerful! Watching this prove over again is a catharsis for me in many means. Discovering and reading Neb Daniels' book at the same fourth dimension has been a bonus. Highly recommend!

When I bought this book over the summer, I idea I was getting a really great read. Even so, once I opened it, I had forgotten just how former the "character" was and had forgotten that he had other positions before the one I call up him on (Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World). So, although it took me a few months to go through - battling some automobile issues and some medical checks (that came out negative in the end (ugh)), the read through on this book just lingered on for then long.

When I bought this book over the summer, I thought I was getting a really great read. However, in one case I opened it, I had forgotten just how old the "character" was and had forgotten that he had other positions earlier the ane I retrieve him on (Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World). So, although information technology took me a few months to get through - contesting some machine issues and some medical checks (that came out negative in the cease (ugh)), the read through on this volume just lingered on for so long.

When the author wrote most capacity, it didn't experience that the chapters were very well written. I mean, it wasn't as well wordy. But the descriptors only weren't there that could've enticed me to read more of it - a lot more often. I lost interest in this book for a bit, and by a few days ago, I had information technology out and read 3 chapters over four hours the other night. Boilerplate reading speed tended to be quick, merely the amount of page turns simply showed to be longer.

...And then at that place'southward the fact that in that location'due south a useless appendix - an "interview" taken from someone else that was just mentioned in the epilogue, then by the time you picked it upwardly, actually made you wonder "why am I reading this now?" and chances are that you lot'll put the book down again, after reading 98% of the book or throwing the volume in the trash (which I'll probably delete this book a couple of years downwards the line - since it'south on my Kindle). I really do wish he would've focused more on his work on Boy Meets Earth, and some of the events taken on the set up, but then once more, he mentioned things in other Telly shows that weren't very much, when he gave quite a bit in the amount of on-Broadway stuff that I wasn't really wanting to know much about.

If you desire to read about him, information technology seems like the author created this book to supplement his resume. But then once more, since he's still alive, it's an unending story.

Start off let me country that I am non a item fan of Mr. Daniels. I don't hateful that I dislike his work or accept anything against him, I am just saying that I accept never sought out anything but considering he was in it.

I was only vaguely enlightened of his career prior to reading this book and most of what I was familiar with was the tv set work. I had no idea that he had been a child performer, was on a bear witness in the early days of radio or really much at all about his stage career. I merely chose this volume because it seemed like it might exist interesting.

Mr. Daniels relates how he began his amusement career as a "song-and-dance-homo" around the age of 4 and became part of a family unit human activity with his two younger sisters before branching out into acting in the theater. He takes you through his career equally a young role player upwards to starring on Broadway and then the move to television which fabricated him familiar to a wide audience.

The volume is told in an easy to read conversational style, a bit curmudgeonly merely I think that'south but Mr. Daniels personal mode showing through. It was interesting to share some of his experiences of the old days in show business, it would have been dainty if he would have gone a niggling bit more in depth on some of the great erstwhile stars that he met and worked with but you can't have everything.

All in all, In that location I Go Over again is an interesting book about someone who quite literally spent near his unabridged life in show business concern. If youre a fan of one of his boob tube shows looking for deeper insight into what is was like making those shows or working with those casts you will nigh certianly be disappointed as he touches only briefly on his television series.

***Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this championship.

Thanks to Netgalley for this book.

BUT, I was very impressed to acquire that he has been in testify business nearly his entire life, thanks to his domineering stage mother Irene. Lord Irene, many a therapist has probably put their kids through college thank you to the number Irene did on Mr. Daniels. I exercise like that corporeality of introspection he has and the openness he shared about undergoing counseling, the problematic periods in his marriage, the loss of his start child (heartbreaking!!) and the adoption of his ii sons. He is able to comprehend his life in enough particular for the reader without overwhelming u.s. with minutiae, something other "stars" sometimes accept problem with (we know y'all're famous but we don't literally need to know EVERYTHING). Great vignettes about his piece of work and personal life are sprinkled throughout the factual recountings keeping the volume interesting and well-paced.

His sense of humor and warmth came through as he often poked fun at himself, admitting he has stumbled somewhat ass-backwards into some of his biggest roles, and even while sharing negative stories about others is able to point out some of their positive characteristics and try to see things from their point of view. It was absurd to read about all of the people he has met and worked with during his career. I thought this was a great instance of how an autobiography should be done.

I started this book terminal summertime cheers to Netgalley providing me with an accelerate copy. Unfortunately, real life with college kept me away, then I needed to re-read and I'm glad I did. I would requite this four.5 stars.

Overall, I establish Mr. Daniels' writing manner to my liking (though some might not). There was something about how he presented his life with his asides appealing to me and fabricated him feel more like an everyday guy who struggled with the everyday happenings despite having become a well-known actor. Sometimes there were a lot of names given, and though sometimes I felt a bit overwhelmed by the amount, I did detect it quite extraordinary simply how well Mr. Daniels could recall these vary encounters he had decades before--it made me wonder how he could even so remember. Sure, he's an actor who needed to memorize lines, etc., and maybe he has kept personal diaries or the like to assist. Still, I found his life so interesting. I asked to receive an ARC based on the proper noun of the book, especially because of KITT and Mr. Feeny in the title (plus I remembered him from St. Elsewhere and hoped this would exist included and it was) and wanted to know more about this actor. I enjoyed his recount of the way he retold the style he was cast for the vox of KITT the near!

I would definitely recommend this volume to anyone who enjoys reading autobiographies told from a very down-to-earth betoken of view from an role player who seems, at least to me and my impression after reading, quite apprehensive and 18-carat.

(for my own notes: began re-reading again from beginning June 1st and completed June 22nd, 2018 -- the outset date seems to be off somehow)
